Break Restaurant
As part of the Experiential Design Studio, a collaboration between graphic design and interior design, we conceptualized, branded, and built a fictional restaurant within a hotel located in Sedona, AZ. This project was designed for the curious traveler—someone seeking a unique experience beyond the conventional hotel and restaurant environment.
Problem Statement
We were challenged to think beyond the ordinary by asking, “What if?” This approach encouraged us to explore unexpected combinations that tell a compelling story and create immersive spaces with intentional emotions. Our guiding question for the restaurant became: What if a a restaurant was a mosaic of rare moments coming together? What if taking a break wasn’t just a pause, but a necessary moment to reflect on life’s sweetest experiences?
Solution:
The Break Restaurant was born from this concept. In collaboration with Jenna Laenger, we developed the idea of a “Mosaic of Rarity”—a collection of special, rare moments designed to inspire guests to pause, reflect, and immerse themselves in meaningful experiences. At its heart, our restaurant celebrates the importance of taking a break together.

We envisioned a space that feels light and airy, inviting guests to take a deep breath and unwind. Soft, gentle lighting enhances the atmosphere, creating a sense of warmth. The Break wallpaper adorns the walls, complemented by small arched niches that add character and a unique touch to the space.

Below, we had the opportunity to set up a mock table for our studio reception, featuring our evening menus alongside our custom-made cloth napkins for a refined touch.
